Start and stop the timer

Use the dock at the bottom of the calendar when you want Phased to count the time as you work. Only one timer can run at once.

  1. Choose a project in the dock. For a phased project, choose the phase next. You can also choose a task once the phase is known, which on a simple project is right away. Press Start timer.
  2. Press Stop when you finish. What happens next depends on whether the entry already has a phase:

For a simple project, or when you chose a phase before starting, the entry saves immediately. For a phased project with no phase chosen, the Save timer panel opens.

  3. If the panel opens, choose the phase and press Save. Press Keep running if you are not ready to finish.

  • Stopping a run under one minute discards it immediately. Phased shows Under a minute, nothing logged. and creates no entry.
  • In the Save timer panel, the bin labelled Discard timer throws away the whole run after you confirm. A discarded timer cannot be undone.

The + in the dock

Use the when you already know the time you worked and do not need a running timer. It starts a 15-minute entry at the current time.

  1. Press the in the dock.
  2. Phased moves the calendar to the current-time line and opens a 15-minute entry there, with the New entry panel beside it.
  3. Choose the project and phase, adjust the start, end or duration, then press Add.

The shows only while no timer is running. On a phone it sits at the bottom right of the screen instead of in the dock, and does the same thing.

Keyboard shortcuts

On a computer, four keys stand in for the dock and the sidebar. They pause while you type in a field or a dialog is open.

  • N opens a new entry, the same as the .
  • T starts the timer, and stops it again.
  • Ctrl B ( B on a Mac) collapses or expands the sidebar.
  • ? shows the list inside the app.

The same list sits under Help at the bottom right, as Keyboard shortcuts.
