Use tasks to name the work

A task is an optional label on tracked time inside one phase. It is not a to-do item. There is no task status to update or box to tick when the work is finished.

Add a task while creating or editing a time entry, or from the timer dock. Pick a suggestion or type a new name. The task belongs to the entry's phase. Using the same name on another phase creates a separate task there, so each phase keeps its own hours.

• One task can collect many entries across different days and weeks.
• To read a task's hours, open Time, choose the range, and filter the entries by task.
• An entry can be saved with no task when a project and phase are enough detail.

Build reusable suggestions with task groups

Task groups are reusable lists of names shown in the task picker. Manage them on Tasks. Every account starts with an always-available Default group. A new name typed directly into a task picker is also added to that group for next time.

1. On Tasks, press New group to create one, or Add task inside a group to add a name to it.
2. Click a task's name to rename it, move it to another group with the folder icon, or remove it from the library.

   A group's ⋯ menu offers Rename group and, for any group except Default, Delete group. This removes its tasks from the library, but a task already used on a project keeps its name and time.

On Pro, custom groups are global by default. Selecting groups on a project's Task groups row narrows that project's baseline. A phase can add more groups for itself. Connecting a group to one phase removes it from the global list on other phases. The Default group is always available.

The task picker reflects this with three tabs:

• Global contains the Default group and any suggestions that are globally available.
• Project contains groups connected to this project.
• Phase contains groups added only to this phase.
